Farmers markets and greenmarkets in New York City provide an opportunity to buy fresh and affordable produce while supporting regional farmers. NYC Health + Hospitals has farmers markets at some of the City's hospitals.

Most farmers markets accept SNAP benefits (EBT) and all accept Health Bucks coupons.

The Department of Parks and Recreation does not manage green and farmers markets.

The New York State Farmers Market Nutrition Program provides coupons for low-income older adults (seniors). The coupons can be exchanged for locally grown fruit and vegetables at participating farmers markets and stands in New York City.

You can use Health Bucks coupons at all NYC Farmers' Markets to buy fresh fruit and vegetables.

You can get a $2 Health Bucks coupon:

  • For every $5 you spend in SNAP benefits (also known as Food Stamps) at any farmers market that accepts EBT.
  • When adults or kids participate in nutrition and cooking classes, sponsored by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, at select farmers markets.   

Community organizations may also apply to receive Health Bucks coupons for nutrition or health-related programming.

The Health Bucks season runs from July 1 to November 30.
