Central Park is Manhattan's largest park. It extends from 59th Street, north to 110th Street and from Fifth Avenue, west to Central Park West. It is open from 6 AM to 1 AM.

Central Park only allows barbecuing on three days during the year:

  • Memorial Day
  • Labor Day 
  • The 4th of July

You cannot barbecue in the following areas of Central Park: 

  • Athletic fields
  • Closed landscapes
  • Playgrounds
  • Woodlands (North Woods, Ramble)
  • Conservatory Garden (105th St and Fifth Avenue)

Any other non-prohibited location north of 96th street in the park can be used to barbecue.

Propane tanks are not allowed. 

    As of June 27, 2018, Central Park is permanently closed to cars. 

    The four Central Park transverse roads at 97th, 86th, 79th, and 65th Streets remain open to motor vehicles.
