Food establishments must display the Food Allergy Poster if it has seating for customers. The poster tells employees how to protect customers from food allergies.

It includes:

  • A list of the most common allergy-causing foods
  • What to do if a customer has a food allergy or a reaction
  • How to prevent cross-contamination

The symptoms of an allergic response to a food allergen may include the following: 

  • Hives
  • Itching
  • Swelling of the eyelids, face, lips, and tongue
  • Runny nose
  • Abdominal cramps
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
  • Hoarse voice
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Death
