Coronavirus (COVID-19) Alert

New York State exams have been cancelled for the 2019-2020 school year, including Regents exams. There will be more guidance provided for students regarding Regents exams.

The following exams will not be administered for the duration of the school year:

  • Grades 3-8 English Language Arts Test
  • Grades 3-8 Mathematics Test
  • Grade 4 Elementary-Level Science Test
  • Grade 8 Middle School Science Test
  • New York State English as a Second Language Achievement Test (NYSESLAT) in Grades K-12
  • New York State Alternate Assessment (NYSAA) for students with severe cognitive disabilities in Grades 3-8 and high school

Most public school students in grades 3 to 8 are required to take State tests in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics each spring. Most students in grades 9 to 12 take State Regents Examinations in various subjects each year.

Students need to pass certain Regents Exams to graduate from City public schools.

State Test Scores

The Department of Education (DOE) provides results of the annual New York State Math and English Language Arts (ELA) exams for students in 3rd grade through 8th grade. You can access your child's test scores using your NYC Schools Account. This system provides personalized student data.

The scores for the April Math and ELA tests will be available on the NYC Schools Account system at the end of August.
