Telecommunications boxes and antennae are attached to certain light poles and utility poles. These rounded-edge boxes are used to provide wireless services such as cell phone reception and wireless broadband.
There are currently seven companies with franchises from the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications (DoITT) to install and maintain mobile telecommunications equipment for their own private networks:
